Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has finally returned, and with it comes new opening and ending themes that herald the start of the show’s biggest arc yet.

While we’re only on the anime’s sixth episode, the fact that the highly anticipated Shibuya Incident arc has begun warrants an opening and ending change—a testament to how much effort is being put into the show.

Before the arc’s big fights happen though, the anime’s return kicks off with a more lighthearted episode, at least at the start.

Jujutsu Kaisen made a huge splash back in July as it finally returned. Instead of picking up where the last season ended, the new season turned back time to Satoru Gojo's past, showing a defining moment in his life.

Following the first five episodes, the anime went on a weeks-long hiatus to give the staff more time to work on the massive new arc.

Finally, the show has returned, and this time, the new episode follows the loveable main trio.

Episode 6 features Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara in a funny scene, though things suddenly take a turn as the scene shifts to Mechamaru.

Without going into spoiler territory, this new episode sets things up quite nicely, but it’ll take a bit more time before the Shibuya Incident properly unfolds.

Fans got a preview of what to expect though in the form of the anime’s striking new opening and ending themes, which may have some spoilers for anime-only fans.

Jujutsu Kaisen Gets New Opening and Ending for Shibuya Incident Arc

Along with brand-new animation for its opening and ending credits, the anime’s return also comes with new songs.

The latest opening is titled SPECIALZ by King Gnu, the band behind the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 themes.

Meanwhile, the series tapped Japanese band Hitsujibungaku for the ending song, more than words.

This is an interesting choice as Hitsujibungaku is more of an indie rock band instead of a more energetic rock group.

However, they’re no strangers to anime as the band performed the opening of Science SARU's The Heike Story.

With the anime getting new theme songs early into the season, it’ll be interesting to see if this will be the last set of songs or if the anime will switch again later.

In the meantime, fans can expect the next Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode to come out on Crunchyroll next week.
