The new Jujutsu Kaisen episode kicked off with an intense fight between Toji and Megumi. As Toji is acting out of pure instinct, he has no idea who he’s fighting.

This changes when Toji’s personality surfaces after he realizes that he’s facing off against his son, Megumi. A flashback plays, showing that underneath it all, Toji still cares for his son.

After asking him who he is, Megumi replies that his name is Fushiguro. This satisfies Toji as Megumi wasn’t taken by the Zenin clan.

Thus, Toji stabs himself in the head, ending the transformation technique that summoned him.

Despite Megumi having no idea what that was all about, it was no doubt an emotional moment for fans who watched it.

Their respective VAs also revealed that it was a memorable scene to record.

There are only a few lines shared between the two, which adds to the pressure of delivering the lines perfectly.

Thankfully, Koyasu and Uchida revealed that they were together in the booth to record this scene.

Koyasu and Uchida remarked that this helped them deliver the lines with more emotion.

Megumi and Toji VAs Say AI Can’t Replicate Their Performances

On the topic of recording, Takehito Koyasu said that the challenge of delivering an emotional line such as Toji’s question to Megumi was fun for him as an actor.

Koyasu continued that this level of emotion from actors is something that AI can’t replicate.

Uchida echoed this sentiment, stating that even if AI sounds similar, a human VA will still have more emotion.

Interestingly, the two VAs brought up AI even if it wasn’t strictly part of the discussions. This goes to show how big the impact of AI technology is in anime.

Even with how disruptive it has been, Koyasu and Uchida’s statement can be seen as a positive take on how AI won’t be able to replace actual artists and creators when it comes to creative works.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will continue with Episode 41, which will be released next week.
