Fans are still not over Nanami’s moment in Season 2, and it seems the Pahang state government isn’t either. During a recent legislative state assembly, officials revealed that they wanted to get in touch with Gege Akutami for a potential Jujutsu Kaisen Malaysia beach promotion.
This follows a recent Jujutsu Kaisen episode that showed Nanami on a Kuantan beach. This is a real-life beach located in Pahang, Malaysia.
Spoiler Warning: There are Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 spoilers in this article.
Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Pay Tribute to Nanami in Kuantan
Kento Nanami is a fan favorite, thus fans were saddened by his death in the anime. As if to twist the knife even further, the anime showed Nanami imagining himself on Kuantan beach, where he wished to go on a vacation.
Soon after this Jujutsu Kaisen episode aired, fans made various tributes to Nanami on the real-life Kuantan beach. For instance, some fans made a Nanami memorial shrine on Google Maps.
Not to be outdone, some Malaysian fans even went a step further by going to the beach. One such fan is @douzi_69, who went and cosplayed as Nanami while on the beach.
Even though Nanami sadly died at the hands of Mahito, his dreams of going to Kuantan will live on thanks to these fans’ efforts.
Aside from fans, even Pahang state officials are doing what they can to bring Nanami to Kuantan, at least if they manage to get in touch with the series’ creator.

Pahang Officials Want to Contact Jujutsu Kaisen Creator to Promote Malaysia Beach
According to a report by The Star, the Pahang Stage Legislative Assembly said that they want to get in contact with Gege Akutami following the mention of Kuantan beach in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
Officials are said to be coursing their efforts through the Japanese government so that they can get in touch with Akutami to promote the beach to anime fans for tourism purposes.
Anime tourism promotion isn’t new, as it’s quite common for towns and cities in Japan to have tie-ups with popular titles. Even Jujutsu Kaisen collaborated with Okinawa for the second season’s Hidden Inventory arc.
Most of these cross-promotions are done only in Japan, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Pahang state government will be able to push through with its Jujutsu Kaisen promotion plans.
In the meantime, the anime’s second season will continue with a new episode later this week.
