It has only been two weeks but it looks like Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is enjoying a lot of success since its international release. The anime film has just earned over $27.7 million at the US box office!
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released in the US and Canada on March 18 and fans immediately rushed to watch the film in theaters. The prequel movie quickly earned over $17.7 million on its opening weekend, finishing second behind The Batman during that week. Now, the success continues as the film rounds out its second week with an awesome $27.7 million box office haul.
This isn't a huge surprise considering that fans have been rewatching Jujutsu Kaisen 0 several times both in the subbed and English dub versions. With that in mind, the movie is expected to continue with its success for the next few weeks.
While it's doing well overseas, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is also a huge success in its home country. The film recently debuted at the 20th spot of the highest-grossing movies in Japan. As of writing, the movie has moved up to the 19th spot with a 13.16 billion yen earning since its release in December.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 isn't the only big winner for the franchise this week. It was previously announced that the manga now has over 65 million copies in circulation ahead of the release of Volume 19. It's an amazing feat that is expected to continue as more tankobons are released later this year.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Gege Akutami's manga of the same name that serves as a prequel to the main manga. The movie adaptation is currently screening in theaters worldwide and is expected to be released in more countries soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
