Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Closes in on $30M at US Box Office


It has been three weeks since Jujutsu Kaisen 0 took the North American theaters by storm and the anime film is far from slowing down. The prequel movie based on Gege Akutami's manga is now closing in on $30 million as it continues to enjoy success at the domestic box office!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is currently in its third week of screening in US theaters and now has a cumulative total of US$29,693,448, as per Box Office Mojo. The anime flick has placed 5th this week after earning $1,970,000 and reportedly had a per-theater average of US$951 over the weekend.

This is an impressive feat and proof that Jujutsu Kaisen is on a roll this year. It has already been confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the highest-earning film at the Japanese box office in 2021, surpassing Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time. The movie is now the 19th highest-grossing film in Japan and is poised to take the 18th spot from Frozen II.

The success of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 could also connected to fans' excitement for the anime's second season. It will still be a long wait for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and people are taking their time to enjoy the prequel before jumping back into the main series. With that in mind, there is no shortage of content from the franchise in the next few months.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Gege Akutami's manga of the same name that serves as a prequel to the main manga. The movie adaptation is currently screening in theaters worldwide and is expected to be released in more countries soon.
