Jude Law Might Be Playing A Villain Instead Of Mar-Vell In Captain Marvel

Jude Law's Captain Marvel character might be described as "the commander of the Starforce" and "mysterious mentor" to Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, but it looks like Law might not actually be playing Mar-Vell.

Sure Marvel fans might have been expecting Law to take on the role of Mar-Vell ever since the actor was cast in the movie, but there's been a lot of speculation that the Sherlock star might actually be playing a villain in disguise in the movie. Marvel Studios has already revealed other major players in the film (Talos and Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and according to a new theory by CBR, there isn't any other reason to keep fans from knowing who Law's character is unless there's a major twist.

Though Law could be Captain Marvel's Mar-Vell, it's also possible that he could actually be playing Yon-Rogg, another major officer of the Kree. Not only is Yon-Rogg the commander of Mar-Vell on the Helion, a ship of the Kree sent down to the planet earth by Supreme Intelligence, but he's also indirectly responsible for the transformation of Carol Danvers to Miss Marvel.

Yon-Rogg, unlike Mar-Vell, has always been hostile towards Carol, trying to kill the pilot and Mar-Vell for their friendship which he considered largely "Un-Kree." Yon-Rogg also worked together with Ronan in the comics – a sign which is shown in photos from the film.

What do you think? Could Jude Law actually be playing Yon-Rogg instead of Mar-Vell? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Captain Marvel releases March 8, 2019.
