There might be very little updates about the future of the Star Wars franchise with Lucasfilm busy working on the production of the sequel trilogy's third and final installment, Star Wars: Episode IX, but it looks like new reports are starting to make their way across the rumor mill.
Though fans should be advised to take these reports with a grain of salt, Making Star Wars has just recently let out the first few rumors saying that Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action Star Wars series might actually be set in Mandalore during the days after the defeat of the Empire during the Return of the Jedi.
Apparently, sources have informed the publication that the Star Wars live-action series would actually be set on the planet of Mandalore three years after the Empire's fall during Return of the Jedi. The fall of the Empire has brought chaos on Mandalore, a planet that The Clone Wars and Rebels previously revealed to be filled with conflicting groups with their own agendas. With a new void brought on by the end of the Empire, the planets major groups start competing to fill the Empire's hole.
Sure the rumor might not have any truth to it, but if it were proven to be true, then fans would get to see Lucasfilm focusing on the Mandalorians. Of course, the desire to learn more about the warrior culture of Mandalore comes as no surprise. Fans always wanted to know more about Mandalore ever since the planet's warrior culture was first hinted during the original trilogy and Star Wars legends used to explore Mandalorian culture and society a whole lot before Disney tried to streamline what and what was not canon.
