Todd Phillips has been sharing a lot of exciting updates on the highly anticipated Joker film. After offering a brief glimpse at Joaquin Phoenix's mysterious Arthur, we now have an official photo of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond.
Fans were undoubtedly thrilled when it was confirmed that the Deadpool 2 actress would be joining the Joker movie. Phillips also expressed his excitement when he posted the image of Beetz on his official Instagram account. Check it out below.
There's not much to see here, similar to Phillips' previous post of Phoenix's Arthur. Nevertheless, it is nice to know that Beetz will be sporting her natural hair in the film.
It has been confirmed that Beetz will play Sophie, the "hardened, single mother who sees how the lower classes struggle beneath the wealthy." There have been speculations that Sophie will be Arthur's love interest. However, there is still a possibility that she will be one of the characters who will end up on the bad side of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Interestingly, Phillips shared the image of Beetz just after a news outlet published paparazzi photos of the actress with Phoenix. The director responded to a comment on his Instagram post and explained that he wanted to share some good pictures of his stars.
"Here's the issue. We have paparazzi all over our set, at every turn. And it bums me out that they constantly put out their bad shots. So I figure, may as well put out some good ones."
There have been a lot of images of Phoenix and Beetz circulating in several news outlets. However, the image that Phillips shared certainly is the best one of the Atlanta actress so far. Here's hoping we'll be getting more official updates from the director in the near future.
The Joker film is scheduled for release on October 4, 2019.
