Last week, it was revealed that JoJo's Bizarre Adventure star Billy Kametz has been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Since then, fans have been pouring out their support for the English dub voice actor who played Josuke Higashikata. So it's no surprise that the GoFundMe that was launched for Kametz is now closing in on its goal!
When it was confirmed that the actor had Stage IV cancer, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans wanted to help right away. Some of Billy Kametz's friends then started the GoFundMe on his behalf. Although it was only started late last week, the crowdfunding effort is already close to reaching its $100,000 goal.
"A month ago, Billy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, which was both unexpected and heartbreaking—heartbreaking for everyone except Billy, of course. Billy's spirit is so genuinely, unconquerably bright that even a cancer diagnosis hasn't kept him down; with a smile, he proudly tells anyone who asks that he's going to 'fight this like hell' and put cancer in the dustbin of his life's history," the GoFundMe reads.
"That is why we ask you to join his fight by supporting this campaign. Not only will our support help him focus on his diagnosis rather than his finances, but it will also give us the opportunity to show Billy in a real, tangible way how much we appreciate the happiness he has brought to our lives - through his kindness to his friends, family, and fans, and from his voice on our TV screens. With your help, he can continue spreading that happiness for years to come," it concludes. You can help Kametz here.
As of writing, the GoFundMe has already collected $96,405 from over 1,700 donations. It shouldn't take long before the goal is reached and Billy Kametz gets the treatment he deserves.
