Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow Might Get A Female Replacement In Pirates Of The Caribbean Reboot

Disney has yet to address Johnny Depp's firing from the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. However, the House of Mouse might already have plans for the next major lead of the beloved franchise.

People were understandably dismayed when it was reported that Depp will not return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the franchise's next film. Some believed that the reboot without Depp would be a disaster yet Disney could be moving forward with an unexpected new lead, who happens to be female and a major Pirates of the Caribbean character as well.

According to Express, Redd might be considered to lead the reboot. The character, also known as The Redhead, is a huge part of the Disneyland ride and attractions. Although she was off to a bad start as one of the "wenches" being auctioned off at the attraction. Since then, Redd has been reinvented and turned into a pirate.

Redd certainly seems like a strange choice but it would work if the studio wants to replace the controversial Depp with a strong female lead. The Redhead has certainly been popular in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and her mysterious background could open up several possibilities for the franchise. The report even suggested that Avengers: Infinity War star Karen Gillan should be cast as the female pirate. For now, we still recommend taking this with a grain of salt.

In October, The Curse of the Black Pearl writer Stuart Beattie had confirmed that Depp will not make an appearance in the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. The screenwriter stated that the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star had "a great run" but is not expected to continue playing Jack Sparrow.
