Luck clearly isn't on the side of Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp as he has once again come up short in his attempt to turn the tables against former spouse Amber Heard amidst their messy and highly publicized legal battle.

If you haven't been following the case, the legendary actor sued his ex-wife for $50 million in Virginia over a Washington Post op-ed the actress wrote about her experience as a victim of domestic violence. Heard retaliated by filing a $100 million counterclaim, accusing Depp of defamation, and claiming that he was responsible for the social media effort to tarnish her career, this includes an attempt to get her fired from Aquaman 2 and lose her deal with beauty brand L'Oreal.

Fairfax County Judge Bruce White has denied the Fantastic Beasts actor's bid to have Amber's countersuit tossed. "In light of the #MeToo Movement and today's social climate, falsely claiming abuse would surely ‘injure [Ms. Heard's] reputation in the common estimation of mankind. … Therefore, this Court finds that the statements contain the requisite ‘sting' for an actionable defamation claim."

Things aren't looking great for Johnny and the controversies surrounding his personal life could end up costing him his own career. I remain hopeful that he'll be able to bounce back but by the looks of it, I think it will take a lot of time and hard work for him to redeem himself. Now, whether he's actually innocent or not, let's just hope that justice finally prevails.

Johnny Depp was supposed to reprise his role as Gellert Grindelwald in FantasticBeasts 3.
