Marvel Cinematic Universe newbie Wyatt Russell is making headlines left and right for his involvement in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and his acting is just too convincing that some fans are actually finding it hard to differentiate fantasy from reality. Now, his character John Walker aka "Captain America" has become an overnight sensation and is now considered as one of the most despised villains in the franchise.

Wyatt even reportedly received death threats from angry Marvel fans who weren't thrilled with the idea of him replacing Chris Evans as Captain America. Now, despite all the controversies, the son of screen legends Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn is still managing to keep his cool.

In a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen Show (via ScreenGeek), Russell finally set the record straight amid the heat he has been receiving for taking on the Captain America mantle. The actor dismissed rumors about him taking a social media break because he's not on the platform to begin with.

Wyatt said: "No. Somebody asked me that. I've never had… I don't have social media. I've never had it." He would later say that while it's okay to hate John Walker, at the end of the day, fans still need to differentiate fiction from reality. He continued: "All the ire and hate and whatever it is, I'd say like, ‘It's okay, you can feel that way.' I wouldn't go too far with it. It's still a movie. It's fake. It's a comic book and it's a TV show. It's not real. But it's fun."

The tremendous amount of hate John Walker has been generating all over the Marvel fandom is a testament to how Russell was able to pull off the part and when you think about it now, it's hard to imagine another actor playing the character in the MCU because he totally nailed the role. His performance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier alone has undoubtedly earned him a secure spot in the franchise and I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around for more Marvel projects.
