Wyatt Russell officially made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as John Walker to much fanfare but in real life, fans are already despising this new version of Captain America who was appointed by the U.S. government to take over for Steve Rogers. As early as Episode 2, the series made it very clear that he'll end up being a thorn on the side of both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.

So far, the actor is having the time of his life as part of the billion-dollar franchise, following in his father Kurt Russell's footsteps who previously starred as Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He did reveal, however, that he isn't exactly that familiar with the MCU despite the fact that he originally auditioned to play Captain America over a decade ago.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Wyatt said that upon his arrival on set, he would ask his co-stars questions about how everything in the Marvel universe works. He explains: "I didn't grow up, like, I didn't grow up knowing much about comic books. My heroes were athletes."

He later shared that co-star Sebastian Stan was the first person to restrain him from asking questions as it will only get him more confused about what was going on. He continued: "So when I came on set, I was like, 'What does that mean? Who's that person? How do they fit in?' And finally, Sebastian was like, 'Dude, stop asking questions. You're going to get more confused. If you get answers, it's going to be worse.'"

I gotta say, so far, I am very pleased with Russell's portrayal of "Captain America" and I'm sure he's enjoying all the hate his character is currently getting. Now, it'll be interesting to see if Marvel Studios will continue displaying Walker's villainous tendencies or if he'll end up joining Sam and Bucky down the line. One thing's for sure, Wyatt is doing an amazing job, and the idea of him sticking around for more MCU projects doesn't seem crazy at all.

The latest episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
