John Stamos Replaces Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in MCU Art

There's no arguing that Robert Downey Jr. helped define the Tony Stark character and there's a reason why the comics fully adopted the Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart of the "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist".

After portraying Iron Man on the big screen for over a decade, it's already hard to imagine someone else playing the part but a ton of "what if" scenarios were made possible thanks to the whole multiverse concept the franchise has been rolling with.

There were persistent rumors surrounding Iron Man's return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but obviously, we never saw a variant of the beloved hero in the MCU blockbuster. It seems like Downey is no longer interested in reprising the role even for a cameo which is why fans have been speculating that Kevin Feige will be bringing in a different actor to breathe life into Stark's multiversal counterpart.

Tom Cruise is undoubtedly a strong contender for the part but Instagram artist @samuel_cheve recently unveiled a marvelous artwork depicting Hollywood icon John Stamos as the defacto leader of the Avengers. I gotta say, he does look the part and I honestly wouldn't be mad if he made a cameo down the line. Check it out here:

We're still a few years away from the culmination of the Multiverse Saga and it almost seems like a guarantee that we'll see an appearance from a variant of Tony Stark. It's quite baffling how it hasn't happened yet especially given the fact that the studio has already introduced the Illuminati, a group where Stark was one of the founding members.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Ironheart series is expected to hit Disney+ in 2023.
