John Cena Gives Enthusiastic Update About Peacemaker Season 2

Even if it’s only been a year since Peacemaker premiered, fans are always afraid their favorite DC show will not see the light of day, especially now in the era of series cancellations.

When DC Studios announced last year that they were going full revamp, spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran, some DC projects were canceled, including Doom Patrol and Titans.

Despite Gunn repeatedly hinting that Peacemaker is safe under the new management, fans are going to need more than that as they demand solid confirmation that they are getting a second season.

In his latest appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, John Cena, who plays the titular hero, offered a glimmer of hope as he talked about the future of Peacemaker.

“I hope so, what I will say is I'm very excited about the new leadership at DC because I love James Gunn as a human being and Peter Safran as well. I have the utmost respect for them as professionals, I've never seen people so prepared and who take it so seriously and have so much passion for it and aren't afraid to be themselves,” said Cena.

He added: “What you will see from DC in the future is the heart of James Gunn, he is not going to leave anything on the table he will not make a vanilla movie that says movie on the end of it and then serve it to you.

“He will take chances, he will be brash, he'll do things his way, but you will authentically get his creative mind which I think is brilliant. So whether the future of DC involves 'Peacemaker' or not, as a fan and as a friend of James, I'm excited for the future of DC.” Cena concluded.

Gunn previously said that Peacemaker has not been canceled, but it might take a while for it to arrive as he worked on Superman: Legacy, which will premiere in July 2025, and Waller, which will debut anytime soon.

For now, Peacemaker season 1 can be watched on HBO Max.
