Joel Edgerton Teases His Return In Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Star Wars fans went wild when Lucasfilm announced that it was going to bring back Ewan McGregor for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+. Sure, rumors about an Obi-Wan movie had been circulating online for quite some time before Lucasfilm made the announcement earlier this year during Disney's D23 Expo, but no one really expected the studio to present the fandom with a brand new series focused on everyone's favorite Jedi Knight.

While there isn't that much info about the Obi-Wan series as of the moment, we know now that a Star Wars prequel actor may be set to appear in the new Star Wars show. Joel Edgerton, otherwise known in the Star Wars franchise as Uncle Owen, will be reprising his role as the man who raised Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on Tatooine.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the prolific Hollywood actor who's starred in films like Bright, It Comes at Night, and The Gift revealed that it's highly likely that he's going to return to Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away as Owen Lars.

"There is a very real possibility," Edgerton responded, carefully trying not to reveal too much about the upcoming project. "There's potentially an assassin on a rooftop just outside the window if I say the wrong thing. I'd love to say all sorts of things. I'm just not going to."

We would love for Edgerton to say more, but we're sure that Lucasfilm wouldn't be too pleased with the actor if he spoiled major details for the Obi-Wan series.

Are you excited to see Edgerton and McGregor return to the Star Wars franchise?

Obi-Wan has yet to receive a release date. We'll update fans as soon as we get word. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, on the other hand, is set to premiere on December 20, 2019.
