Joel Edgerton recently opened up about his tenure as Owen Lars in the Star Wars franchise and his potential return to the role.

While the character did not have a major presence, the Australian actor's portrayal of Luke Skywalker's adoptive father remained beloved by many fans since he made his debut in the role during the prequel trilogy.

Following his return in Obi-Wan Kenobi, fans have been wondering whether Edgerton will reprise the role again in the future and explore Owen's life in the years before his grim fate in A New Hope.

In a recent interview, Edgerton addressed his portrayal of Owen Lars in Star Wars and joked that his character might be the "most boring" in the franchise's history.

"I’ve always joked that I’m the most boring character in Star Wars history. Imagine how much of a snooze fest it could possibly be if they just made a standalone series about Uncle Owen. It’d be more like a nature documentary as he goes out and farms moisture," he said.

The Star Wars vet also discussed his return in Obi-Wan Kenobi and revealed his excitement when he was asked to reprise the role.

"It was the first thing that I was coming back to do after this long process of the beginning of the lockdowns. I felt happy being on set. I felt really happy being back in the presence of Ewan and that whole world," Edgerton shared.

So far, Lucasfilm has not announced any plans to extend Obi-Wan Kenobi beyond its six-episode limited run, but Edgerton is open to the possibility of returning to play Owen Lars.

"Would I do more? I'd love to do more if it was really cool. The reunion was great, but also, and I've said this before, it was a reminder for me that Star Wars gave me so much," he said.

While Owen Lars might not be an action-packed character, some fans would argue that he is not as "boring" as Edgerton might think since he was a great father figure to Luke Skywalker.

We saw in the final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi that Owen would do whatever he could to protect Luke as he fought Reva (who is using a lightsaber) when she tried to kill his adoptive son.

There's still some storyline that they can explore with Owen if Lucasfilm decides to bring back the character in another project and give him more dimension beyond just being a farmer. If it happens, some fans could support the idea.
