Dua Lipa has joined the exclusive list of pop superstars who have crossed over from music to Hollywood and things are already looking promising for her budding acting career. In fact, the 27-year-old singer stars opposite Henry Cavill in the upcoming spy film Argylle which is set to hit Apple TV+ later this year. On top of that, the multi-time Grammy winner is also reportedly joining Greta Gerwig's live-action Barbie film top-billed by Margot Robbie.
Now, it looks like a legendary director is interested in working with the pop star on a Marvel project. Speaking with The Playlist, Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire director Cameron Crowe pitched the idea of an X-Men movie centered on fan-favorite mutant Dazzler. He said: "Throw me a Dazzler movie! Let's do it." When asked if he's actually familiar with the mutant songstress, Crowe continued: "No, but I will be today! Who should play Dazzler? I can see you have an idea for this."
He would then suggest Lipa for the titular role, saying that he's feeling the "Future Nostalgia" singer for the part: "I'm feeling Dua Lipa for this. Tomorrow I'll be like, 'Yeah, I've been thinking about Dua for Dazzler, you know, I've been thinking about this for a while.' And giving you no credit [laughs]. No, no, I think it's cool. Doing a movie like that could be a blast. You can have character development and all that deep stuff and also have spectacle. You can do it. And it's heading there, clearly."

Just recently, the singer was rumored to be in talks with DC to play Zatanna but the project is currently in limbo after HBO Max abandoned it. As for her chances of playing Alison Blaire in the MCU, being a pop star herself definitely gives her a distinct advantage. However, I don't see Marvel Studios prioritizing B-list characters for its X-Men reboot so a project starring Dazzler might have to wait.
