There have been conflicting reports about what actually led to the horrific snowplow accident that involved Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner on New Year's Day. Initial reports suggested that the 52-year-old actor was attempting to save someone who was stranded in the snow but details about that person have remained scarce over the last couple of weeks.

Now, a new report sheds light on what actually transpired that fateful day and it turns out that Renner was actually saving a close family member of his. In fact, it was actually his nephew who avoided catastrophe thanks to the MCU veteran.

According to the latest incident report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (via CNN), the actor experienced a mechanical mishap while attempting to stop his snow-removal tractor from sliding and hitting his grown nephew. This of course resulted in him being pulled under the machine and sustaining the injuries he did.

The report reads: "The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake. Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over."

"Once he was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew). He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully."

"The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road. He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene."

This week, Renner posted another update regarding his condition, revealing that he broke over 30 bones due to the accident. The good news is, it doesn't look like the rumors of him needing to undergo another operation to get one of his legs removed are true, and judging by the image he posted on social media, it looks like he's already in therapy mode.
