Jeremy Allen White is currently one of the rising actors in Hollywood thanks to his acclaimed roles in the hit shows The Bear and Shameless. He is also set to star in the upcoming highly-anticipated film The Iron Claw.

There is no doubt that he is now on the radar for many studios and producers on the list of actors that they might want to cast on their franchise films whether it's the MCU, DCU, or other major properties in Hollywood.

However, as it turns out, it looks like a role in the MCU might unlikely happen anytime soon as he already had a meeting with Marvel Studios that did not end up going well.

Speaking with GQ, White revealed that he previously had a meeting with Marvel Studios to potentially join the MCU, but it didn't end up going well due to his contentious behavior during their conversation.

"I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude," he shared. "I think I played it all wrong. [I said,] ‘Tell me about why should I do your movie’ They were like, 'Fuck you,' And I was like, 'Right on,'"

The Emmy nominee also expressed his skepticism toward the dominance of the comic book genre.

"I am confused at how the pinnacle of an actor’s career has ended up in that place," White said.

"They get really good filmmakers to do those movies and obviously they get really good actors to do those movies. I played it the way I wanted to play it."

There's no doubt that it would have been great to see a talented actor like White become part of a franchise such as the MCU although it is also understandable to hear his hesitation in joining due to the potential artistic limitations that he might have when he becomes involved in it.

It also sounds like he is more interested in doing more grounded roles at the moment, especially in smaller films that do not have the huge spectacle that the general audience likes but he feels fulfilled artistically.

Nevertheless, whether it's in a franchise, a hit TV show, or an independent film, nobody can deny White's talent as an actor and it's interesting to see where his career trajectory will go in the coming years.
