The Iron Claw Plot: What Is the Movie About?
The Iron Claw tells the story of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers. They have had numerous accomplishments in wrestling, but outside the ring, the family has been surrounded by a series of tragedies, which led people to believe they were cursed.
Their misfortune has been referred to as the “Von Erich curse”. The film is mostly centered on Kevin Von Erich’s story (played by Zac Efron), the second-oldest Von Erich son.
The official synopsis for The Iron Claw reads:
“The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.”

The Iron Claw was written and directed by Sean Durkin. He previously served as a writer and director of the 2011 psychological thriller film Martha Marcy May Marlene starring Elizabeth Olsen and the 2020 family drama film The Nest starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon.
