Who knew that the dryest and most humorless character on Netflix's The Brothers Sun would turn out to be a stand-up comedian in real life? Meet Jenny Yang, who plays the serious-minded Xing in the series. Here's what you need to know about Yang's age, career and latest role.

Long before playing Xing in The Brothers Sun, Jenny Yang was named one of Variety's Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2020 and New York Magazine's Vulture Comedians You Should Know.

She was born in Taiwan on November 8th, 1990, which means Jenny Yang's age is 33.

She is one of those performers who seem to be made for their profession, as she has found success in almost every one of her comedic endeavors: from the hit stage show SELF HELP ME, a competitive self-care comedy show, to sharing a stage with legendary comics such as Maria Bamford, Margaret Cho, Sarah Silverman, and Chelsea Handler.

Yang is also a union member of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) – and a proud one at that.

She has previously written scripts for HBO Max's Gordita Chronicles, Netflix's Peabody-award-winning animated show City of Ghosts, Fox's Last Man Standing, and Busy Tonight with Busy Philipps.

Now marking her Netflix debut, Yang plays Xing in The Brothers Sun, a character who (ostensibly) works alongside the Sun family towards the same goal.

Jenny Yang's role in The Brothers Sun is the complete opposite of what she is like in real life.

While Yang appears open, chatty and quick to laughter when she hits the stage, her character Xing prefers to lurk in the shadows, ready to pounce on an unsuspecting enemy.

Xing first appeared on The Brothers Sun in the series' opening episode, when she and Blood Boots (played by Jon Xue Zhang) had to help Charles Sun (Justin Chien) clean up a mess in his apartment in Taiwan.

Since then, Xing became more involved in the Sun family drama, following Charles to Los Angeles together with her accomplice, Blood Boots. However, things took a darker turn when Blood Boots died halfway through the series.

The Brothers Sun Director is a Fan of Jenny Yang's Stand-Up

Since The Brothers Sun's Kevin Tancharoen, who directed five out of the series' eight episodes, was already a fan of Jenny Yang's comedy work, he had hoped that Yang would help him in crafting her character, Xing.

"I was like, 'This is not who you would initially think [of] for this role, but that's why it works so great.'" Tancharoen said, which makes the character of Xing stand out in her own way when Yang mixed in "her comedy, her dryness."
