James McAvoy Hates Shaving His Head To Play Professor X

After X-Men: Apocalypse, it seems that the only hairstyle we ever see James McAvoy in is the one where his head is clean shaven. As it turns out, McAvoy is actually getting pretty tired of his haircut, and says that being bald has become more problematic than it used to be.

Talking to People, McAvoy explains:

"I used to like the fact that it afforded me a certain amount of anonymity but it no longer does that. Since I did two movies that everybody saw where I had a bald head, now it's like a f—ing beacon. But what do I like about it? Not a lot at the moment. I like when it's been about five or seven days going in, then it's cool but when it's properly skinhead I look a bit weird. I do like the fact that I don't have to do anything in the morning."

Before he went bald for X-Men, McAvoy always had a full head of hair, but ever since Apocalypse, McAvoy has been bald, and he continued to be bald in M. Night Shyamalan's hit movie Split. Even his look in Atomic Blonde had McAvoy with a shaven head. Not entirely bald, but it was pretty close.

McAvoy will be returning as Charlie Xavier for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so we should expect more of his skinhead look in the future. I honestly think the reason for Charles being bald in Apocalypse was kind of forced, and I would have been fine if they gave Professor X a bit of hair in the franchise moving forward.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters Nov. 2, 2018.
