James McAvoy Addresses Professor X's Possible Return in Doctor Strange 2

We are all hoping that the X-Men will eventually show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, some fans are convinced that the first major mutant will actually show up in a huge MCU sequel next year. So is it true that Professor X will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? James McAvoy has addressed his possible cameo in the Benedict Cumberbatch flick.

There are several theories about Doctor Strange 2 considering that the upcoming sequel will tackle the multiverse that was unleashed in Loki. After all, it's the perfect way to introduce new characters into the MCU and fans are hoping it meant the X-Men's introduction into Marvel movies.

But will we see McAvoy's version of Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange 2? The X-Men: Apocalypse star recently spoke to Screenrant about the possible cameo and his response was initially vague.

"Got nothing to say on that," McAvoy said. He then pointed out that the media usually blows up rumors "because the actor has to say no, and we're used to the actor saying no, and then they do show up."

However, McAvoy put his foot down and ultimately debunked this particular theory. "I'm saying no and I mean it," he said.

It might be disappointing to know that McAvoy will not be rolling into Doctor Strange 2 in his wheelchair but it's not the end of the world. There is still a chance that the mutant will eventually show up in the MCU but probably in a later project. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere on March 25, 2022.
