One of the many upcoming MCU projects that are currently in the works is the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+, which is being filmed at the same time as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. As usual, the plot details are still under wraps except that it will obviously have some holiday spirit. Now, it looks like we're starting to hear more details about the much-anticipated special.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special director and writer James Gunn shared his thoughts about his experience making the upcoming Disney+ special to which he proclaimed it as "the greatest thing I’ve ever done in my life."
"It’s totally ridiculous, and every day we can’t believe that we’re making it," he said. "We all completely love it. It is unlike anything that anyone’s ever seen before. I can’t wait for people to see it. And it’s out pretty soon. You know, it’s out this Christmas. It’s not like people have to wait that long."
Gunn also hinted on Twitter that "more than one great new MCU characters" will be introduced in the special although, obviously, he didn't reveal which characters they are and the actors who are going to play them.
When a fan asked him about the length of the special, Gunn clarified that it will be a "TV special length" which means that it would be around less than an hour. It's also in alignment with what Gunn said in an interview with Collider last year in which he said that the special will be under 40 minutes.
It is exciting to hear these updates as it adds to the anticipation of the special which is set to be released later this year. While specific details are still under wraps, there have been speculations that Mark Hamill will be appearing as a nod to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. Of course, we won't know any of it until we finally see the special. All we know is that Star-Lord and the gang will be there.
