James Gunn Refuses to Start Guardians Vol. 3 with this 90s Classic

One integral thing about Guardians of the Galaxy is the soundtrack, and after Vol. 2 gave Peter Quill a Zune, there is now open potential for the films to include music from decades other than the 70s. One fan asked if Gunn would start the film with this 90s classic (and present-day meme), to which Gunn replied:

HEY NOW

What's funny is that, though All Star is frequently connected to the opening of Shrek, the song was actually made for the 1999 superhero movie, Mystery Men starring Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, and Geoffrey Rush.

We don't know what kind of music James Gunn has planned for the third film, but he has said that it will be Yondu's mixtape this time around. The first two Guardians films had songs that were from Quill's mother, and it's only fitting that his father figure will provide the tracklist for Vol. 3.Why do I have a feeling that Quill is going to handle being a father this time around. Doesn't he already have that dynamic with Baby Groot?

Though I do love the 70s vibe that Guardians of the Galaxy is known for, I would like to see some jabs at the 90s era and what Quill thinks of the music. Would he like listening to Barbie Girl? How about Britney Spears or the Backstreet Boys?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is aiming for a release sometime in 2020.
