Dave Bautista Improvised Drax's Best Line in Avengers: Infinity War

Even though it was filled with gut-wrenching tragedy, Avengers: Infinity War still managed to be a surprisingly funny movie all things considered. Maybe it's because seeing these characters in funny situations make what happen to them later on that much more tragic but it was nice to have these moments of levity.

There are plenty of funny moments, from Thor and Star-Lord trying to out-macho each other to Spider-Man's pop culture references, there is a lot to like. One scene that stands out to fans as being the funniest was when Star-Lord asked "where is Gamora?" which lead to Iron Man saying "who is Gamora?" and hilariously ending with Drax trying to one-up them by asking "why is Gamora?"

A Yahoo interview with Infinity War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus revealed that the scene was improvised by Drax actor Dave Bautista. The former WWE Champion has proven that he has mastered this version of the character that James Gunn envisioned. It is good seeing these writers work with the actors like this since it helps build character.

"The script only said, ‘Where is Gamora?' ‘I'll do you even better: Who is Gamora?' And then one day Bautista just goes, ‘I'll do you one better: Why is Gamora?'" Markus recalled. "It's like, ‘OK, you're very good at your job.'"

It's not yet known if Drax will return since he and most of the Guardians were killed by Thanos after he wiped out half of the universe. Chris Pratt did confirm that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would start shooting soon, so maybe Drax survives? We'll have to wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters.
