James Gunn Reveals Intriguing Casting Details on Superman: Legacy

Superman: Legacy is expected to lead the new DCU franchise under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. There is a lot of anticipation right now for the project, especially since Gunn announced recently that he is directing the film as well aside from writing the screenplay.

A lot of fans have also been wondering about which actor they will cast to play the titular hero as well as the age range that they are looking for. A recent rumor emerged online that Gunn is looking for actors in their early 20s which suggests that the new Superman might be younger than we anticipate.

Recently, a fan asked Gunn on Twitter whether the rumor that was surfacing around the web was true. The DC Studios co-chairman immediately disputed it as he clarified that the casting process has not started yet. He also revealed that the actors that they will be looking for are NOT limited to the 20s range.

"Untrue. We haven’t begun casting other than making lists, and it’s not limited to people in their twenties," Gunn said.

This is the first casting information that we're hearing regarding the new Superman actor that Gunn is looking for in his upcoming film. While the character is still going to be younger, it sounds like the actor won't necessarily be around the same age since Gunn will try to search as wide as possible.

However, this also doesn't reveal anything about the character or actor details regarding the new Superman in the DCU franchise, but at the very least, we can now narrow it down a little bit and we now have a much better idea of what we can expect on the new Man of Steel.

For now, let's wait and see for more updates regarding the upcoming film in the coming months as Gunn is still in the writing process. Since it is the movie that will take off the DCU, they definitely know that there are a lot of stakes in this project.
