James Gunn Confirms Surprising Thor: Ragnarok Connection in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

We already know that almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe film is connected to each other. However, we can still miss certain references while watching these movies. For instance, the recent online viewing of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has uncovered a surprising Thor: Ragnarok Easter Egg. Amazingly, director James Gunn himself has confirmed it.

Gunn has been interacting with fans during the screening of the second Guardians film and was asked if a particular sequence actually featured a character from Ragnarok. Take a look at the filmmaker's response.

Okay, so it's not actually Korg himself but it's a nod to the character that would eventually show up in the third Thor film. We're a little disappointed that that isn't the same character who would later join the God of Thunder in the other MCU flick but it's still an awesome Easter Egg we all have missed.

Korg is a Kronan who is eventually forced to become one of the gladiators fighting on the planet of Sakaar. In Ragnarok, he eventually befriends Thor and leads his fellow prisoners out of the planet. He is voiced by director Taika Waititi.

Gunn is expected to begin working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as soon as he finishes post-production on The Suicide Squad. The third Guardians movie has not yet been given an official release date. Meanwhile, Korg could return in Thor: Love and Thunder, which is scheduled for release on February 18, 2022.
