The Guardians of the Galaxy's charismatic and lovable talking tree fellow Groot is easily one of the MCU's most endearing characters but for the longest time, fans have found it hard to make sense of everything he says given the fact that he's only able to utter the words "I am Groot" but of course, his fellow Guardians teammates are able to understand every word that comes out of his mouth.
Naturally, just like any other language, "I am Groot" could mean a lot of things in the franchise but did you know that the character voiced by Vin Diesel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has actually gotten away with dropping some pretty obscene words over the course of his MCU tenure?
In a recent Twitter conversation with a fan who asked what swear words Groot has already said in the Marvel films, director James Gunn confirmed that Groot, particularly his Baby version has delivered countless F-bombs in the past and we'll probably get to hear him say some pretty nasty curse words in the future without us knowing it. We're all aware of the fact that Disney is pretty much a family-friendly company so they obviously would not want viewers, especially the MCU's younger audience to know the exact words that come out of Groot's "filthy" mouth. On the flip side, it sure is nice to know that even an unassuming creature like him could get all-rated R whenever he wants to.
Now, let's just hope the character will play a more significant role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 because quite frankly, it's been long overdue. Groot has pretty much proved in all of the films he appeared in that he could be a valuable asset not only to the Guardians but to the Avengers as well so I'm hoping he'll get an upgraded arc in future films.
