Jackie Chan has given a warning about the current state of Hollywood and the quality of movies that are being released today.
For the past several years, fans have noticed that Hollywood has become heavily reliant on sequels, franchise spinoffs, and IP, since they have guaranteed box office success, while original material is no longer being prioritized. It has become a concern since the quality has also suffered, and there have been questions about whether this is the new Hollywood standard.
What Is Jackie Chan's Warning About Hollywood and Movie Quality?

During a Q&A panel at the Locarno Film Festival (via Deadline), Chan shared his belief that modern Hollywood movies have suffered in quality due to an obsession with earning money.
"I think the old movies are better than today. Right now, a lot of big studios, they’re not filmmakers, they’re business guys. They invest 40 million and think, ‘How can I get it back?’ And you can’t go over. It’s very difficult to make a good movie now," he said.
Elsewhere in the panel, Chan noted how there are only two people in Asian cinema who have an expansive skill set that is dedicated to making high-quality movies.
"In all of Asia, only two directors can do everything: the writing, directing, acting, stunt coordinating, stunt fighting, and editing. Only two. One is Sammo Hung, the second one is Jackie Chan," he said.
Chan jokingly added, "And I’m better because I know how to sing."
In terms of his main goal in Hollywood, the legendary artist said that he always wanted to "be a cross-cultural bridge between the US and China."
What Are Jackie Chan's Upcoming Projects?
