Is a Sequel to Ratatouille Officially in the Works?
In a recent interview with Collider, Brad Bird was asked about the possibility of developing a sequel to Ratatouille.
He denied any rumors and speculations that there are plans to produce a follow-up to the 2007 film, but he shared that he had been approached by people about the idea.
"They’ve made little feints towards that to see how I would react. They’ll, like, crack a joke, but the joke will be a little bit serious, like, ‘Would you?’ And I’m like, ‘No, we told that story,'" the director said.
"Any time you do something that ends up connecting with people, they automatically think, ‘How about another?’ People have mentioned it about The Iron Giant, which is hilarious to me because the film didn’t succeed at all in its initial release. It’s caught up in time, but what would you do to follow that up? He’s lumbering around, still undiscovered? In other words, to me, that story is told."
While he shot down the possibility of a Ratatouille sequel, Bird is more positive on doing another installment of The Incredibles, which has a third movie currently in the works.
"I could see another Incredibles film," he said.
For now, fans should not expect any sequel or spinoff to Ratatouille, despite being in an era of franchise and legacy sequels.
