Despite being unable to attend the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con panel for The Walking Dead, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan send a joint video message to warn their fans about their upcoming spinoff series, Isle of the Dead.

Morgan and Cohan will reprise their roles as Negan and Maggie in the TWD spinoff Isle of the Dead. However, as the series' filming had already begun in New Jersey, they couldn’t attend Comic-Con.

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” Morgan and Cohan said together in a video message.

Isle of the Dead will continue the TWD franchise when the series end. The show is now on its 11th and final season, with only eight episodes before it officially concludes.

Talking about the original series' ending, Morgan said TWD has been “near and dear” to them.

"Saying goodbye to our fellow cast, crew, and fans has been extremely difficult," he said, per Comicbook.

He then teased the actors would make their in-person return to Comic-Con in 2023.

Cohan chimed in and said they would be back on the small screen sooner than the 2023 Comic-Con.

"We can't wait for you to see it. In the meantime, you guys keep watching The Walking Dead. Learn how we get from there to here,” Morgan teased.

What Will Isle of the Dead Entail?

Isle of the Dead is created by the showrunner Eli Jorné. It will feature six episodes filmed in New Jersey and New York.

Here, the rivals Maggie and Negan will travel to the post-apocalyptic Manhattan after leaving Virginia.

"The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,” the AMC's description of the new series reads.
