Train to the End of the World Could Be Spring 2024’s Surprise Hit

At a glance, Train to the End of the World looks like a cute girl doing cute things (CGDCT) type of anime, but there’s so much more to it than meets the eye, which caught everyone by surprise.

In fact, a lot happened in the first episode of Train to the End of the World which attracted fans of various anime genres.

From a cult group that developed 7G technology to characters turning into animals and trees, everything in Train to the End of the World is a mystery.

It all started with a clueless high school student named Nakatomi Yoka, who became the 77,777th person in Ikebukuro, winning the opportunity to activate 7G, Japan’s latest technology that will connect the world at record speed.

After activating 7G, the world changed and life has never been the same again. The distance between train stations and between towns suddenly grew to impossible lengths and all the people completely changed.

In Agano, all the grown-ups turned into animals while others turned into trees in some areas.

While they can still reason like humans, the main character thinks that they’ll fully turn into animals in the long run.

Train to the End of the World is not based on a manga or light novel. It is an original anime by EMT Squared, the same studio that created I'm Quitting Heroing, Beast Tamer, Fluffy Paradise, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, and Alice or Alice, to mention a few.

The original anime is directed by Tsutomu Mizushima (Another, Genshiken, The Lost Village), with the series composition by Michiko Yokote (Call of the Night, Children of the Whales, Devils and Realist).

Meanwhile, manga artist Torimura released a manga adaptation of Train to the End of the World.

The manga's story will be told through the perspective of the character Akira Shinonome, and it is available on the free manga website KadoComi.
