After the recent release of Loki Episode 1 on Disney+ and the upcoming release of Thor 4: Love and Thunder in 2022. Fans are wondering whether these two Norse brothers will meet again in the Loki TV series.
The last time Thor and Loki technically saw each other was in the altered timeline of The MCU. This was in Avengers Endgame when we saw The Avengers travel back to Stark Tower to pick up the Tesseract. However, after Stark is almost knocked out by a Hulk who is furious from coming down the stairs, Loki is able to obtain the Tesseract once more before transporting himself. The first episode of Loki begins as he transports himself to the Gobi Desert in Mongolia where he is picked up by The Time Variance Authority.
It's important to note then that if Thor were to make an appearance. It wouldn't be the "Jolly" Thor we came to love in Avengers Endgame, but an alternative timeline Thor that wouldn't have teamed up with his brother in Thor: Dark World or played "Get Help!" in Thor Ragnarok. (This is where Thorhurtles his brother towards oncoming guards.)
However, even though we know that a lot can unfold in a single MCU film, let alone the entire Loki TV Series, it's extremely unlikely, according to Tom Hiddleston (Loki actor) that Thor will be appearing in The Loki Series. Here's Why:
Tom Hiddleston Breaks Silence on Loki and Thor
During an interview with Empire Magazine, when asked about Thor and Loki joining together once more, actor Tom Hiddleston (Loki) claimed that:
"We have explored about as much as we can about these two brothers, We talked about the Thor movies as a family saga, and the diametric opposition between Thor and Loki, and duality and antagonism, being a book that perhaps should remain closed for the moment."
Therefore, according to the Norse god of mischief himself, it seems that the Loki TV series would very much be a stand-alone plot without the appearance of a musclebound Hemsworth joining the show.
Why Thor could appear in Loki on Disney Plus
Within the Loki trailer, there is a moment where Loki says "Brother, Heimdall, I hope you're ready". We then get shown the next scene where he is jumping from a plane without a parachute before being teleported by the Bifrost in mid-air!
We know from Avengers Assemble, that Thor would do whatever he could to be able to track his brother. Therefore, it is only fair to assume that Thor would continue to do the same in this new timeline once his brother slipped away at the end of the attack on New York. Some believe and hope then, that this easter egg in the trailer could be Thor bringing Loki back home. Yet nothing has been confirmed.
The first episode of Loki appeared on Wednesday 9th of June and will continue to be released weekly every Wednesday for 6 episodes in total.
