HBO's Watchmen series may be its own original story, but it will still contain nods to the original comic by Alan Moore. Just recently a set photo featured an ad on the bus with Minute Men member Hooded Justice, but a new photo may actually give us a look at his possible successor.
Check it out:
In the comics, there was a side story going around about Hooded Justice about him actually being a closeted gay man in a relationship with Captain Metropolis. If set photos are to be believed, a documentary about the Minute Men is being advertised within the series, and it's possible that this will be the side story we get while the main narrative of the series plays along.
With the photos we get here, some are guessing this is going to be some kind of period flashback or a dramatization found in the documentary-within-the-series. With heroes like Nite Owl and Silk Spectre changing identities within the film, I would imagine that some new character is just taking on the Hooded Justice mantle.
At least that's my guess.
So far, interest on the Watchmen show has been a rollercoaster. A lot of people were excited when it was first announced, then devastated when it was revealed that it wasn't an adaptation of the comic. When it was revealed that this was actually a sequel to the comic, a lot more people came onboard.
We don't know if showrunner Damon Lindelof is going to wow us with this series, but based on his track record, Watchmen may actually turn out amazing.
No specific release date has been set, but expect Watchmen to debut on HBO sometime in 2019.
