Is Star Wars: The Clone Wars Using Darth Maul to Set Up The Mandalorian Season 2?

If you've seen the latest episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7, you probably know that Darth Maul is back and stronger than ever. But is it possible that Maul's return is just a way to set up the events in The Mandalorian Season 2?

In Together Again, Ahsoka Tano discovered that Maul is the true head of the Pyke syndicate and has been controlling criminal activities while ruling over Mandalore. Needless to say, it's a discovery that fans already know about. After all, it was confirmed that Maul is the leader of Crimson Dawn in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

But why was it important to revisit Maul's criminal activities in The Clone Wars? Some believe that it was more than just a way to draw Ahsoka back into action and set up her role in the Siege of Mandalore. There is a possibility that these little details could help in confirming Ahsoka's importance in Mandalorian history and prepare for her appearance in that other Disney+ series.

For now, it has not yet been confirmed whether Ahsoka will show up in The Mandalorian Season 2. On the other hand, fans believe that Rosario Dawson has been cast to play the live-action version of the former padawan in the Star Wars series. Hopefully, we'll get an official confirmation from the show soon.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 airs on Disney+ every Friday. The Mandalorian Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere in October.
