The much-awaited live-action adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles has finally been released on Roku. But is The Spiderwick Chronicles on Netflix too? Why was it scrapped in the first place? Here's what we know.

Why Was The Spiderwick Chronicles Scrapped by Disney+?
Plans to adapt The Spiderwick Chronicles into a live-action adaptation were first unveiled by Disney+ last November 2021.
The show went into production in September 2022 and wrapped up in early 2023.
Unfortunately, Disney announced that it reevaluated its streaming strategy for the series.
In August 2023, the streaming platform announced that they had scrapped the reboot of The Spiderwick Chronicles from its roster.
The live-action series was just one of the many other major content write-offs Disney announced. Disney's CFO, Christine McCarthy, said:
“We are in the process of reviewing the content on our DTC services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation. As a result, we will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms.”
Shortly after the announcement, various streamers showed their interest in acquiring the series, and one of them was Paramount.
As it turns out, The Roku Channel won the rights to the show and released the reboot on April 19, 2024.

Is The Spiderwick Chronicles Series Available on Netflix Too?
The Spiderwick Chronicles is a beloved book series by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. An earlier film adaptation was released in 2008, starring Freddie Highmore (of The Good Doctor fame).
Now that the reboot is available on The Roku Channel, fans are wondering if The Spiderwick Chronicles TV series is on Netflix too.
But as of writing, The Spiderwick Chronicles is not available on Netflix. All eight episodes of the show are currently only available to stream on The Roku Channel.
However, there may be a chance that another streamer or Netflix will pick up the series in the future depending on various factors such as licensing rights and audience demand. But take this prediction with a grain of salt.
