After the release of the trailer for Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, fans can't help but be excited at the possibility of a small Spider-Man cameo or link within the film.

Despite Tom Holland's Spider-Man appearing in The MCU, the onscreen rights of Spider-Man are technically owned by Sony, alongside Venom, Morbius, Carnage, and 900 other characters such as Black Cat. Although there have not been any confirmations of Spider-Man to appear in the same universe as Venom, the trailer gives plenty of easter eggs that make us think otherwise.

Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage Trailer and Easter Eggs

Director Andy Serkis has openly nodded to an easter egg of Spider-Man. We see Woody Harrelson playing the serial killer Cletus Kasady writing a letter to Eddie Brok, and as he does so, he kills a spider that is walking across his desk. As well as this, the trailer shows Detective Mulligan reading a copy of The Daily Bugle Newspaper that has the exact same logo and branding as the one from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man franchise.

However, Andy Serkis also confirmed in a trailer breakdown of The Venom sequel for IGN that despite the nods to Spider-Man, that both Venom and Carnage are unaware of characters like Spider-Man in their universe. Therefore it is unlikely we'll be seeing Spider-Man play a cameo role in this film. That's not to say it won't happen in the near future though!

Morbius Trailer

During the Morbius trailer, we see Jared Leto's character Michael Morbius walks past a graffitied piece of artwork of Spider-Man that has the word "Murderer" written across from it. This gives fans the impression that J Jonah Jameson's special announcement in Far From Home that "Spider-Man murdered Mysterio" also exists in the universe. However, there is a twist; the version of Spider-Man that exists on the wall is actually of The Amazing Spider-Man played by Andrew Garfield vs Tom Hollands version. Could this be another hint that the universes are merging in Spider-Man Far From Home or Doctor Strange 2 - The Multiverse of Madness?

The Future of Spider-Man and Venom

In an interview with Variety magazine, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group President explained that there is a plan that Sony and says that there is a plan that is more likely to be shown in Spider-Man No Way Home.

With Kevin Feige pointing out that there will be a link between Spider-Man: Far From Home and the Doctor Strange sequel, alongside the confirmation of Alfred Molina playing Doc Ock once more, the idea of all the Spider-Men films joining into a multiverse has officially become the worst-kept secret in Hollywood.

Therefore, despite nothing officially being confirmed, it seems like Spider-Man and Venom joining together will be more of an inevitable "when" than an "if"
