The Defenders promise to bring together all the worlds established in the Marvel Netflix universe, but sadly, Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher is not part of the roster—or is he?
According to Bleeding Cool, they were able to take a look of a cast list for the Defenders panel at San Diego Comic-Con later this month, and Jon Bernthal is included in that list. Along with him are other names lie Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Krysten Ritter, Charlie Cox, Jessica Henwick, Marco Ramirez, Elodie Yung, and Deborah Ann Woll. Jeph Lob will also be in attendance.
Bernthal's inclusion in the panel have led some to believe that he will also be making an appearance in The Defenders. With such a huge event happening, it's possible that the showrunners would want us to know what Frank Castle is up to.
Personally, I think this is more of a Marvel Netflix panel than a sole Defenders panel. With The Punisher set to come out sometime in November, it's very possible that Bernthal is there to promote the release of his own solo series, and we might get a trailer for Punisher as well. It was only a matter of time, and Comic Con seems like the perfect reveal.
As of now, we still have no specific release date for The Punisher, but we do know that Defenders comes out Aug. 18.
