Mob Psycho 100 is an award-winning show. But since some awarding bodies are basically popularity contests, it can be hard to tell if an anime winning an award does equate to it being actually good.

If you're wondering about whether Mob Psycho 100 is one of those controversially successful series, then this article is what you need.

To make everything clear from the get-go, Mob Psycho 100 is super good. For one, the enigmatic creator, who is also the brain behind the highly acclaimed One Punch Man, does a great job of balancing elements of action, comedy, and daily life into the show.

Other things that make the series good are its unique art style and top-tier animation, which are even more heavily flexed in its opening and closing sequences. That said, the more mundane scenes may be off-putting to some, as many anime watchers are purists and wouldn't consider giving less-conforming art styles a second glance. Their loss, though, as the series does have a lot of wow moments, if they would only give it a chance.

In my opinion, the real champions of the series are its unpredictable plot and original storyline which focus on unassuming esper (psychic) Shigeo Kageyama, nicknamed Mob, whose talents are basically exploited by his non-psychic mentor, Reigen Arataka, who runs a psychic consultation firm. He's incredibly wise and intelligent though, and he's quite effective at nurturing Mob's potential as an ultra-strong psychic.

Is Mob Psycho 100 Worth Watching?

In one word, absolutely.

Not only are the visuals a sight for sore eyes, the story progression itself actually manages to draw viewers further in. The characters' growth throughout the series is believable, and it's such an amazing feeling to see Mob slowly but surely understanding just how immense his power actually is.

Mob Psycho 100 is a great shonen anime too, with its nicely choreographed action scenes, which, again, are so epic you'd have to wonder if the bulk of the anime's budget is allocated for them.

The anime can have moments of lull, especially at the beginning of the series, but believe me when I say that it does get better. You wouldn't want to miss Mob's growth over the series, not just as a psychic, but also as a high school kid who's just beginning to foster his relationships with the people around him.

As of this writing, there still hasn't been a final release date for season 3. If you can't wait to find out what happens after the events in season 2, check out this guide to know which chapter of the manga you should start reading from.
