Whoever the next Ghostface killer is going to be, they must be getting pretty excited, as casting announcements for next year's Scream 6 is in full throttle. But while many surviving characters from Scream (2022) are set to return, what about characters from Scream 4? In other words, is Kirby coming back for Scream 6?

Kirby Reed was introduced in Scream 4, and was played by Heroes star Hayden Panettiere. Much like Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) from the original Scream trilogy, Kirby quickly became a fan-favorite.
However, it seemed that she met a similar fate to Randy, when she was stabbed in the stomach by one of Scream 4's two Ghostface killers, Charlie Walker (Rory Culkin), before being left for dead in the garden.

And that's the last time we ever see her on-screen in the film. Her fate was left entirely ambiguous, although the late Wes Craven did once hint that she had survived and would possibly reprise her role in a future film.
But Kirby Reed was nowhere to be seen in Scream (2022). Well, not as part of the main lineup anyway, because in a blink-and-you'll-miss it Easter egg, the latest sequel actually confirms that Kirby survived the 2011 killing spree.

When Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) is watching YouTubers discuss the latest Stab movie, if you look closely at the thumbnails on the right, you'll see a familiar face under the caption "Interview with Woodsboro Survivor Kirby Reed!!"
So Kirby Reed did indeed survive Scream 4 - fans can now rejoice! But is Kirby coming back for Scream 6? Well, we have even more good news, because it was recently confirmed that the character will indeed be returning.

It was recently confirmed that Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding will all be reprising their roles in Scream 6, having survived Scream (2022).
It was also confirmed that Hayden Panettiere will be joining them, reprising her role as Kirby Reed. Exactly what we can expect from Kirby this time around is unknown, but we're just glad she's getting a second stab at the series.

Production for Scream 6 begins in Canada in June.
