Is Josh Gad Teasing a Penguin Role for The Batman?

Matt Reeves' The Batman continues to trudge along, and a recent rumor has come out that the main villain of the movie is going to be Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin. Josh Gad had been campaigning for the role since last year, and now he posts up another teaser. The question is, does he really have a chance to be the DCEU's Penguin?

This is Gad's post:

But this was the reply of SuperBroMovies' Daniel Richtman who is seemingly telling Gad to stop giving false hope to fans:

Personally, I would prefer someone a lot older to take on the role of the Penguin in this universe. I think Ian McShane (American Gods) would be perfect as a middle-aged crimelord, but Simon Russell Beale was also pretty ruthless in Death of Stalin. Not to mention Beale also has that English accent down pat—perfect for the washed-up Cobblepot.

Of course, the Penguin's involvement is still a rumor, and we'll have to wait until DC gives us some official announcement. The studio is taking their time when it comes to this Batman movie because WB wants no more misfires after the likes of Batman v Superman and Justice League. Hopefully, this long waiting period will have to be worth it because, at this point, some fans are starting to doubt if this Batman movie is even happening at all.

No release date has been set for The Batman, but the movie is rumored to begin production this coming November.
