Is John Cena Going to Replace Chris Evans as Captain America? Cryptic Post Raises Speculations

With Chris Evans essentially confirming that he will be leaving the MCU after Avengers 4, fans have wondered if Steve Rogers will die or if Evans will be replaced. Going with the second option will be a very controversial movie since Evans has made Captain America a household name for modern fans. Most fans are expecting either Falcon or Winter Soldier (or should we say White Wolf?) to take up the shield but there has been one name that has been going around as a possible replacement.

AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA (doo doo doo doo…)

In all seriousness, fans have shared some interest in seeing the 16-time World Champion take up the shield and Cena himself has decided to take part in the speculation. On his Instagram, Cena decided to share an image of Captain America's shield, one that seems to have been damaged by either Black Panther or Wolverine.

Cena possibly being Captain America doesn't mean that he will be Steve Rogers. Fans of the late 80's will remember a great storyline called The Captain where Rogers was replaced by John Walker, who took up the Captain America name after Steve was sick of the government's shady business. It would be fun seeing Cena play Walker in the MCU, who eventually becomes US Agent and an ally of Steve, despite their political differences.

Only time will tell if Cena ever appears in the MCU but we still have one more movie with Chris Evans to appreciate. Evans will be Captain America for, what seems to be, the final time in next year's Avengers 4 so fans may want to bring their tissues. The original Avengers might also be history by the end of the film, minus Black Widow, so this could be the true end of an era.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
