The hit CBS series, Ghosts, has returned for its third season after a long hiatus caused by strikes. But with its premiere episode, fans of the show are sad with the discovery that Flower (played by Sheila Carrasco) has been "sucked off."

The scene actually happened in the finale of Ghosts season 2. Unfortunately, it was unclear which ghost got sucked off during that event.

With the return of Ghosts season 3, however, it was confirmed that Flower got "sucked off." In fact, Sam (played by Rose McIver) and Jay (played by Utkarsh Ambudkar) were able to witness Flower's sad departure.

Speaking to Variety, Ghosts' executive producer, Joe Port, said:

"We wanted it to be somebody very consequential. We wanted to be someone who’d have an impact on the other ghosts and obviously on Sam and Jay to some degree.”

Out of everyone on their checklist, Flower fit the bill. With the hippie character's absence on the show, it will certainly shake things up; particularly with Thor (played by Devan Chandler Long).

Exec producer, Joe Wiseman, also shared:

“That was a lengthy conversation. We had definitely talked about candidates and what would be the pros and cons about various people and whatnot. Flower came out of a long conversation we had in the writers’ room. We wanted someone who was going to be impactful, and who would lead to a lot of stories.”

So is Flower coming back to Ghosts or does that mean her character will no longer be part of the show?

When asked about Carrasco's return to the series, the producers played coy. Port answered:

“I think it takes some interesting turns. In terms of seeing ghosts going forward or not, this is the kind of show where you could see a ghost anywhere. We’ve hinted that ghosts are in heaven. They’re in hell, they’re on Earth, so I think there’s different ways to see people too.”

It's also important to know that Carrasco only left the show because her character was killed off. This isn't the same as other celebrities who leave a show because of a better offer.

But the creative team also wanted Carrasco's role to move on, which means that her death in the series could be final.

One clue we have that Carrasco could be coming back later in the season comes from Wiseman's words:

"There’s a lot of curiosity about like, what was it? We hint at the fact they think getting sucked off has to do with breakthroughs or growth, but they don’t know that. It is still a very mysterious process that seems to happen randomly.”

It's also worth mentioning that Carrasco is included as one of the main cast members.
