Demi Lovato Is Committed To Staying Sober

In June, Demi Lovato appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, to talk about her album, Holy Fvck. The singer said that her new songs are inspired by her time in treatment for substance abuse in 2021.

“After going through even more stuff last year, I came out of treatment again and I realized, I really want to do this for myself, and I want to make the best album possible — something that really represents who I am. The best way to do that and the easiest way to do something the most authentic is to do it clean and sober. So, I made this album clean and sober. I can’t say that about my last album, but this one, I'm really, really proud about,” she said (via Shape).

Demi Lovato Claims She Became Addicted To Drugs And Alcohol Because She Wanted To Understand Her Dad

And true enough, Lovato kept herself busy with her new album. But before she managed to turn her life around, Lovato revealed that she started taking cocaine when she was just 17 years old.

The “Cool for the Summer” singer revealed her dad was an alcoholic and a drug user, so he was absent from her life. Lovato said that she might have tried drinking and taking drugs to see what her dad got out of it.

“I felt out of control the first time I did it. My dad was an addict and an alcoholic. Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family,” she said.

Lovato also revealed in the YouTube documentary Simply Complicated that her younger sister, Madison De La Garza was one of the reasons why she got sober.

After all, her mom told her that she couldn’t be around her younger sister if she was using.

Here’s to hoping Demi Lovato will never relapse again!
