The promotional videos and trailers for Bucchigiri remind us of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Tokyo Revengers combined. It has a very colorful palette, perfect for those who are into vibrant shows with no room for monochrome.
Not only are the backdrops colorful but so are the character designs in Bucchigiri.
We have the main character, Arajin Tomoshibi, who wears colorful outfits when not in his uniform, and the adorable Mahoro-chan, who’s the younger sister of yet another striking character, Marito Jin.
In addition, Senya the Majin stands out from the rest due to his fiery appearance!
The character designs of the supporting cast are also vibrant, regardless if they belong to the Minato Kai or the Siguma Squad, both teams that are fighting to reach the very top.
For the most part, the characters in Bucchigiri look handsome, and they can pass as any male lead role in a shoujo anime. They also have interesting personalities, which makes them the perfect package for BL fans.

The story follows Arajin, who stumbles upon his childhood friend, Matakara Asamine, after transferring schools.
They go a long way, with Arajin training with Matakara to become Honki people back when they were young and foolish.
In the present, Arajin looks like he has conflicting feelings when it comes to Matakara, leading viewers to speculate that something wrong happened between the two of them.
On the other hand, Arajin also gets involved with Senya the Majin, as well as the leader of the Siguma Squad, Marito Jin.
So, Is Bucchigiri a BL Anime?
While Bucchigiri has some BL elements, it is not a BL anime. Those who are looking forward to a steamy or loving relationship between Arajin and Matakara can settle on fan fiction or fan art for now.
Bucchigiri is an original anime, so it’s difficult to determine whether the tension between characters like Arajin and Matakara can lead to something more than a friendship level.
Arajin is also into girls like Mahoro, with the hopes of losing his virginity to a cute girl, making the BL potential of Bucchigiri slim.
