Wakanda Forever! The most technologically advanced country in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wakanda, will be back on the big screen as Disney and Marvel confirm Black Panther 2 and it will be directed and written by Ryan Coogler. Disney released the news on their official Twitter page.

And no, they will not recast King T'Challa. The late Chadwick Boseman remains to be the exclusive holder of the title of T'Challa. Chadwick Boseman, the central character of Black Panther, donning the Black Panther suit and the king of Wakanda, died due to colon cancer last year and this news brought heartbreak to fans of Boseman and Marvel alike.

Unknown to only a few, he has been battling cancer for four years and still managed to pull off a number of blockbuster films with incredible portrayals including his role as Black Panther despite balancing it with his hospital treatments. Boseman remains to be an inspiration to date, especially to those battling cancer as he is a real fighter and made a mark despite cancer.

To honor Boseman, Marvel Studios and Disney decided not to recast his character and let his legacy remain in the hearts of many, even with the availability of technology, the executive producer of Black Panther, Victoria Alonso, confirmed there would be no use of digital double that will be used for the late Boseman, he will be T'Challa forever.

Given the confirmation that the late Boseman will not be making an appearance on-screen, Black Panther 2 will instead explore Wakanda and the characters that were already introduced in Black Panther. Reprising their roles would be Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M'Baku, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda. Martin Freeman's CIA Agent Everett Ross is also expected to return while there is no confirmation yet if Danai Gurira will return as Okoye and if Daniel Kaluuya will be back as W'Kabi.

Reportedly, Michael B Jordan's Erik Killmonger could also return, either in flashbacks or whatever way Marvel has in store to revive their dead characters as this would not be the first time that we would be seeing a dead character alive in the whole MCU. (Yes, talking about you, Vision.)

Black Panther 2 is set to be back on the big screen on July 8, 2022. It is not sure yet whether it would be available via streaming but following the logic of the Black Widow release, it would not be available on streaming immediately.
