Insider Hints that Vader Could Show Up in Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

A rumor had recently come out that Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen would be making an appearance in the upcoming Obi-Wan series on Disney+, and while it hasn't been officially confirmed, it looks like another source is saying it's definitely going to happen.

Insider Daniel Richtman had posted this photo after the rumor went out:

If anything, the confirmation that Vader is appearing isn't the same as saying that Christensen will appear in the series. Though Vader did show up in Rogue One, he was played by Spencer Wilding. It was just James Earl Jones that got to reprise the part. Christensen hasn't played Anakin onscreen since Revenge of the Sith, and he only did a voice cameo for The Rise of Skywalker.

While I was all up for a story about Obi-Wan, I'm kind of thinking this could have been an opportunity to delve into Vader's early days in the Empire as well. While we get to watch Obi-Wan do what he has to protect Luke, I think it would be cool to see what Vader has been up to, maybe building his castle on Mustafar or hunting surviving Jedi. There should be a lot to take from the comics, but I would still prefer a whole new story.

We don't know when Lucasfilm plans to give us a look at the Obi-Wan series, but we do know that there are plans to release Cassian Andor first. While I personally would have loved an anthology film, I guess a series allows for better character exploration.

The Kenobi series is expected to come out in 2022. The Mandalorian is expected to return to Disney+ this October.
