Gravity Falls Creator Clarifies His Involvement with Detective Pikachu

We may be raving over the trailer of Detective Pikachu now, but when the film was first announced, a lot of people were scratching their heads over it. It was announced before that Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch was going to help write the film, but Hirsch has now come out to clarify exactly what he did with the movie.

Hirsch tried to clarify after some news sources have been mistakenly reporting that he has co-written the movie. Hirsch posts:

Hirsch's involvement was a big deal for a lot of fans counting his fantastic work with Disney's Gravity Falls. The show has managed to amass a cult following online and is regarded as one of the best shows to ever come out of the Disney Channel in a long time.

For now, Hirsch is expected to oversee a bunch of animated shows for Netflix. We don't have any idea on what his first series will be, but I'm excited to see what kind of show he can come up with no-holds-barred. If he can make Gravity Falls as impressive as it was and still manage a PG rating, just imagine what Hirsch can do with the freedom that Netflix allows creators?

As for anyone curious about what exactly Hirsch contributed to Detective Pikachu, I guess we'll just have to wait for him to open up himself.

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.

Detective Pikachu is set to hit theaters May 11, 2019.
